Subaru will preview the next Impreza hatchback with a new concept car set to debut at the 2015 Tokyo auto show later this month. The company will also show a new concept called the Viziv Future that looks like a close approximation of what the next Forester might look like.
The current Subaru Impreza has been around since 2011, meaning that Subaru will likely roll out a redesigned compact within the next year or so. If these teaser photos of the concept car are any indication, the new Impreza will have more rakish styling, with a more aggressively styled front end, a strong character line along the side, and a wide stance in the rear. Subaru says the next Impreza will be the first car to use a new design language for the company, but isn't sharing any other technical details about the concept car just yet.
Subaru Viziv Future Concept
Subaru's other Tokyo debut is an all-wheel-drive, hybrid crossover concept called the Viziv Future Concept. Meant to preview future small crossovers like the next Subaru Forester and possibly the next XV Crosstrek, the Viziv combines technology elements like an advanced version of Subaru's EyeSight active safety system and a new hybrid powertrain with a small, direct-injection turbo engine. It also looks to appeal to the active-lifestyle crowd with various ways of carrying bikes both inside the car and mounted on an exterior rack.
This won't be the first Subaru Viziv concept, as the company previously showed two concepts with this same name at the 2013 and 2014 Geneva auto shows. All different iterations on crossover designs, the newest Viziv Future looks a bit more production ready than the previous Viziv concepts, giving a better indication of how the company's updated styling language may look when applied to future SUVs like the next-gen Subaru Forester.
Stay tuned to hear more information about these two Subaru concepts as they make their official debuts in Tokyo in a few weeks.
