Nissan Kicks SUV Concept Debuts in Sao Paulo

This cool-looking small SUV is called the Nissan Kicks Concept, and it recently debuted at the Sao Paolo auto show in Brazil. Developed in collaboration between Nissan's California design team and the recently opened satellite design studio in Rio de Janeiro, the Kicks is a small SUV concept that's both inspired by and designed for the Brazilian auto market.

Many familiar Nissan design cues are present on the Kicks Concept, like the corporate "V-motion" grille, the boomerang-shaped taillights, and the swoopy profile lines that give this small crossover an athletic, nicely proportioned look. The orange and grey color scheme is meant to add some color to Brazilian roads, as designers noted that a large majority of cars in Brazil are either silver, black, or white. Designers thus added bright orange accents for the wheels, the front and rear fascia, and the roof to give the Kicks Concept splashes of color and evoke the "exuberant" and "bright" colors associated with Brazilian culture and the natural landscape.

There's no word on whether the Nissan Kicks Concept previews any sort of production model, but if it does, the resulting small SUV would likely be exclusive to South America. Markets like Brazil and Argentina are important to Nissan's growth, as the automaker has recently opened production facilities in Brazil along with the aforementioned design studio in Rio de Janeiro.

Nissan does say that the Kicks Concept's design is relevant on a global scale too, so we may see aspects of the Kicks on future Nissan crossovers like the next-generation Nissan Juke or possibly the next Nissan Xterra.
