Bugatti Divo to Debut Next Month
Higher price tag for improved handling

Bugatti is making 500 copies of the Chiron, 70 of which were sold last year. If that model is not exclusive enough for you, Bugatti is selling a new car it calls the Divo. Limited to 40 units, the model will bear a much higher price tag than the Chiron. Instead of around $3 million, the Divo will cost 5 million euros, or around $5.87 million at current exchange rates.
The model derives its name from Albert Divo, the French driver who won the Targa Florio race on a mountainous circuit in Sicily for Bugatti twice in the late 1920s. Inspired by the requirements of this race, the Bugatti Divo boasts a lighter weight, higher downforce, and greater g-forces to improve handling. The model will also feature a new design language.
"The Divo is made for corners," said Bugatti President Stephan Winkelmann in a statement. He continued, "With this project, the Bugatti team has an opportunity to interpret the brand DNA in terms of agile, nimble handling in a significantly more performance-oriented way."
It's likely the Divo will borrow significantly from the Chiron. That could include the Chiron's quad-turbo 8.0-liter W-16 engine that churns out 1,479 hp and 1,180 lb-ft of torque. We'll learn more when the Divo debuts on August 24 at The Quail—A Motorsports Gathering during Monterey Car Week.
