Honda CR-V Stars in "Endless Road" Commercial

Honda wants shoppers to know the company is on a "never-ending quest" to improve its CR-V crossover, and hopes a new hypnotic commercial will drive that message home. In "Endless Road," a Honda CR-V follows a curving road in a wooded area, before the camera zooms in to reveal a smaller Honda CR-V tracing the exact same route but on a smaller scale.

The result is a fractal-like commercial that shows the Honda CR-V taking the same turn again and again. Though you might expect that Honda turned to computer wizardry to craft the commercial, a behind-the-scenes clip (embedded below) reveals that designers created the woodlands scenery in miniature scale and used the model to help film the commercial. Director Chris Palmer explains that the commercial takes advantage of the "Droste effect" to create a sensation of "endlessness." The team shot the scale model at the U.K. 's Sheperton Studios, where other high-budget Hollywood movies like Harry Potter and James Bond have been filmed.

Even though it can't keep driving indefinitely, the2015 Honda CR-Vcan drive for a lot longer than before before stopping for fuel, thanks to a new powertrain that ups highway fuel economy to as much as 34 mpg with front-wheel drive. The2015 Honda CR-Vuses a 185-hp, 2.4-liter inline-four engine and a continuously variable transmission, with both front- and all-wheel drive available. Pricing for the crossover runs from $24,325 to $33,775.
